Fair Tax Coalition commends wisdom of TransLink Board

(Vancouver, BC) – The Vancouver Fair Tax Coalition commends TransLink’s Board of Directors’ decision to collect only $9 million instead of $18 million in property taxes from business.  This tax replaces the revenue formerly collected through the parking site tax.

“We are impressed by the new board’s decision,” said Bob Laurie, co-chair of the Vancouver Fair Tax Coalition.  “It was difficult to make because of the commitments made by the previous board combined with the revised provincial legislation (Bill 43).”

The Vancouver Fair Tax Coalition, a volunteer group representing more than 43,000 local businesses, works to ensure businesses pay a fair share of property taxes and contribute to the sustainability of Vancouver. For more information visit www.fairtaxcoalition.com.
